    What is the difference between a hard reset and factory settings reset. Are they the same? If there is a difference between them then please elaborate on what the difference is.

    • Selinap says:

      @Pali Madra: A soft reset will restore factory settings, while the hard reset will restore factory settings, reinstall factory software and delete all data from the phone memory such as sms, notes and calendar entries.

    I have nokia e71 purchased from australia, my problem is while listening to songs, it goes switched off and on automatically, and again it goes switched off. In night I thought it was due to low battery, and in morning I changed it with the same phone battery of my friend and the charger too, which both are allright. I take it to my friend repair shop who tried to install the software again, but it goes failed on it. While switching on the mobile it shows some blank bright light and goes off again in few seconds. My warranty won’t works as it was purchased in australia, and I am living here in india. If you help me, I am really greatful you, as all my contacts are there in it. Looking for your early positive reply.

      I hope that you had previously backup your contacts to PC or at least to the memory card. BTW, my suggestion is that you could try hard formatting the phone. However, this task will wipe everything from the phone memory.

    thanks for replying, first of all I would like to tell your that it is my bad luck that on the very next day I was thinking to transfer all the data, the previous night it goes off. I had took my e71 to one of my friend mobile shop, where he tried to reinstall the phone software, but it goes failed after doing 70% of copying, and while switching-on, the same bright light come on screen and goes switched off in few seconds without showing anything. And now he is suggesting me to take it to the nokia care centre. As I told u allready the phone is purchased in other country my warranty didn’t works here and if I went to nokia centre they will definetly charged me huge amount of services charges. I am not able to think what to do now, kindly tell me the possible cheap solution. Looking for your early reply

    • Selinap says:

      My opinion is the same as your friend. If hard formatting the phone cannot solve the problem, you should send it to the Nokia Service Center. By the way, if the repair cost is too expensive, perhaps buying a new phone is another option. You could ask them an estimated repair cost beforehand.

    Hi please help me. I have a Nokia E71 which I restored the factory settings. When I turned it on again, I noticed that the 2 preinstalled games, Tetris and Tiger PGA Tour 07, had disappeared from the Installations folder. These are the only things missing and I can’t find them anywher, not even under App. Mgr. how can I recover them?

    • Selinap says:

      @ivan: I don’t think that it is possible to recover them if those games are installed in the phone memory. BTW, don’t you have the backup? If you do, what you need is to restore the backup.

  11. Furqan Masood says:

    i reset my phone ( Hard Reset) but the problem is .. i just forgot the password of my Memory card .. is there any way to retrieve the password of my memory card?

    • Selinap says:

      @Furqab Masood:
      Usually the password is kept in a file called mmcstore in c:\system folder of your phone.

      If you have the backup file for your phone, try to restore the backup and, find for the “mmcstore” file.

      If you don’t even have the backup, search for “mmcpwd” in Google.
